The Phoenix Players drama society was formed in 1948, originally as part of the social side of Steel, Peech & Tozer steelworks at Tinsley. We perform a wide range of drama and comedy staging 3 shows per year at Rotherham Civic Theatre, usually in October, January and May. Past shows have included some of the best known television adaptations such as Dad’s Army, Allo Allo and Fawlty Towers. We rehearse Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7.30 – 9.30 often over a drink as rehearsals are held mainly at the pavilion. All newcomers are welcome as we are always on the lookout for new talent. As well as on stage, there is always much to do in the way of set construction, costume plus backstage and front of house while at the Civic.

Yearly subscriptions for the drama section are £28.00. For a current rehearsal schedule please contact our secretary, Sue Martin on 01709 548855 or email our marketing at frank196109@btinternet.com

Review from Rotherham Advertiser

Allo Phoenix Players,

I just wanted to say many congratulations on last night’s performance – even my Australian friend was crying with laughter and she had never seen the TV show!

When we went home and watched a few episodes, we both agreed that your performance had been funnier. I look forwards to seeing what you do for Dibley in October.
